Hosted By: Jonathon B.
Project for Ages: 5 to 19 Years Old.
Project Category: Youth empowerment
Project Summary:
Yute.fyi is an online directory of free activities, programs, and opportunities for Black youth in Toronto. Our community-focused platform is updated monthly and makes it easy for youth, their families, and their communities to tap into opportunities that would otherwise go unnoticed. We’re starting in Toronto, but we hope to grow and help Black youth across Canada in the future.
Addressing Community Needs:
Yute.fyi addresses several interconnected needs within Toronto’s Black youth community. Primarily, it tackles the critical need for centralized, easily accessible information about free activities and programs. This addresses the current challenge of fragmented resources and underutilized opportunities. By increasing awareness and accessibility, the project aims to boost participation in valuable skill-development programs, thereby addressing the need for enhanced future readiness among Black youth. Additionally, Yute.fyi responds to the community’s need for stronger connections between youth and service providers, as well as the need for increased representation in available programs. The platform’s user-friendly design also addresses the growing need for digital equity, ensuring that all Black youth can easily access and benefit from these opportunities, regardless of their tech savvy.
