Project Summary

The 5 Hands Initiative is a project dedicated to empowering black youth with autism through tailored interventions and cultural sensitivity. It aims to provide equitable access to resources, foster community engagement, and promote self-advocacy and life skills. Components include educational workshops, therapeutic services, social skills development, mentorship programs, and vocational training. Implementation involves collaborative partnerships, cultural competency training, participant recruitment, and continuous evaluation. Through this initiative, we strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every individual can thrive and reach their full potential.

Addressing Community Needs:

The 5 Hands Initiative addresses the pressing need for tailored support and resources for black youth with autism in our community. By acknowledging the intersectionality of race and neurodevelopmental disabilities, the project aims to bridge existing gaps in access to culturally competent interventions. It addresses the lack of inclusive services and support networks for this demographic, striving to empower individuals who have been historically marginalized and underserved. Through educational workshops, therapeutic services, mentorship programs, and vocational training, the initiative seeks to create a more equitable and inclusive environment where every individual, regardless of background, can thrive and reach their full potential.
