RefConnect
Hosted By: Myesha C.
Program For Ages: 20 to 49 Years Old
Our Refugee and Newcomer Volunteer Program helps refugees and newcomers in Canada by providing important skills, connections, and real-life experiences. Over 10 weeks, participants will take part in language classes, job training, cultural activities, and volunteer work with local organizations. These activities will help them learn new skills, become part of the community, and feel welcome in their new home. By supporting them through education and community involvement, we aim to create a more inclusive Canada where everyone can succeed and diversity is valued.
Contributing To An Inclusive Canada
By equipping refugees and newcomers with language skills, job readiness, and community connections, our project contributes to an inclusive Canada where diversity is valued, and all individuals have opportunities to contribute and thrive. This project aligns with the RAIC because we connect with refugees of Sistering for free, and we would like to provide them with a more structured program to provide them with what they need—they came for a better life and need experience to be given the opportunity to it. Through this opportunity, they will also be able to gain valuable Canadian work experience and we can surprise them with a completion honorarium.
