Project Summary:
A healing circle in reflection of Black History Month with an accompanied performance by Sasha L Henry and keynote speaker Matthew Badoe. The healing circle will be a place for emotional, and psychological healing while speaking on systemic racism and injustices that Black people have faced and continue to face, encouraging a dialogue and action toward equality. The healing circle will include meditative visualization, vocalization, deep breathing, and aromatherapy to release physical and emotional tension and reset the nervous system to an inner balance. I hope participants leave this event carrying a newfound sense of vitality out into the world.
Contributing To An Inclusive Canada
This project contributes to an inclusive Canada because we are bringing people together, empowering participants with tools for emotional and psychological healing around systemic racism. This empowerment can lead to increased participation in community initiatives and advocacy for social justice. By addressing systemic racism and injustices, the project educates participants about the historical and ongoing challenges faced by Black Canadians. This heightened awareness fosters empathy and understanding among diverse community members. Offering emotional and psychological support through healing practices helps participants, particularly those from marginalized communities, to manage stress and trauma. This contributes to a healthier, more resilient population.
