Project for Ages: 10 to 39 Years Old
Project Category: Sports and well-being
Project Summary:
The Gambian Islamic Youth in Canada aims to organize a soccer tournament for male youth. Focused on fostering community engagement, health, and well-being, our initiative seeks to provide a positive outlet for young individuals. By channeling their energy into sports, specifically soccer, we aim to divert them from potential risks such as gang violence and drug involvement. This tournament acts as a platform for social connection, promoting teamwork, discipline, and physical activity. Our group recognizes the importance of community involvement in shaping the future of Gambian youth in Canada. Through soccer, we intend to create a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and resilience. This initiative aligns with our commitment to building a strong sense of identity and belonging among the youth, reinforcing positive values and steering them away from harmful influences. Ultimately, our project seeks to empower these individuals to lead healthy, productive lives within Canadian society while maintaining their cultural and religious identities.
This project meets various essential community needs, including promoting community engagement, enhancing health and well-being, offering a positive outlet and diverting risks, fostering social connection and teamwork, and nurturing identity and a sense of belonging. These efforts collectively contribute to a substantial positive impact on the Gambian Canadian community.
