Hosted By: Ibitayo A.
Project For Ages: 20 to 29 Years Old.
Project Category: Skills Development
Project Summary:
This project aims to support skilled black youth newcomers in Ontario, particularly those who have not been served by existing resettlement programs. By re-educating them about labor shortages, offering guidance on leveraging their skills, and connecting them with recruiting agencies in the skilled trades sector, the project seeks to address both unemployment and labor gaps in Northern Ontario. Additionally, participants will receive expert immigration advice to navigate legal implications, ensuring they can safely and effectively contribute to the local workforce.
Contributing To An Inclusive Canada
This project directly contributes to building an inclusive Canada by empowering marginalized newcomers, particularly those from black communities, who have been excluded from existing resettlement programs. By providing these individuals with the knowledge and resources to leverage their skills within the Canadian workforce, the project not only addresses labor shortages but also promotes economic inclusion.
The project enhances civic engagement by helping black newcomers integrate more fully into Canadian society, thereby fostering a sense of belonging and participation. By connecting participants with job opportunities in key sectors and offering guidance on the legal aspects of their status, the project supports their leadership and life skills development, which are crucial for their long-term success in Canada.
Furthermore, by focusing on black newcomer communities, the project raises awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion, emphasizing how these values are essential to building a more inclusive and prosperous Canada. This alignment with the grant’s objectives ensures that the project not only addresses immediate economic needs but also contributes to the broader goal of creating a more equitable and inclusive society.
