FREE YOUR MIND! Motherhood vs. Sanity (TJM: Support For Young Mothers)

Hosted By: Talisa S.C.

Program For Ages: 5 to 39 Years Old

Project Summary:

Many single moms face challenges without a strong support system. They might not have family nearby or friends who understand what they’re going through. Having a community of other moms who can offer advice, encouragement, and assistance can make a big difference. It’s like having a group of friends who always have your back.

Balancing work, childcare, finances, and everything else can be stressful. Moms need time to relax and take care of themselves, but finding that time can be hard. A free day focused on relaxation and self-care gives them a chance to breathe, recharge, and come back to their responsibilities feeling more refreshed and capable.

Being a single mom can feel lonely without a strong support system. It’s not easy to meet new people, especially when you’re busy with kids and other responsibilities. By attending events like this, moms have the opportunity to connect with others who are in similar situations. They can share stories, offer advice, and build friendships that provide support and community beyond just one day.

Single moms often worry about their children and want to give them the best possible life. Seeing their kids happy and having fun is a huge source of satisfaction and relief. By providing a day of activities and entertainment for the kids, moms can relax knowing that their children are safe, engaged, and enjoying themselves. It’s a chance for both moms and kids to have a break from the usual routine and create positive memories together.

This event addresses the community needs of single black mothers in marginalized communities and Newcomers to Canada, who may lack well-rounded support systems. It provides them with resources and a supportive environment to alleviate stress, learn management strategies, and create positive experiences for both themselves and their children. Additionally, it offers a platform for building connections and networks within the community, which can help reduce feelings of isolation and empower individuals to push through their challenges more effectively.
