Project Summary:
“Sankofa Sports Leadership Program” is a 6-week program designed to empower BIPOC youth aged 14-18 through a combination of sports training and life skills workshops. The program focuses on developing financial literacy, effective communication, leadership, and mental wellness. By fostering resilience, teamwork, and leadership, the program aims to build a strong support network and empower participants to become leaders in their communities, promoting diversity, inclusion, and personal growth.
Addressing Community Needs:
The “Sankofa Sports Leadership Program” project is designed to address the critical needs of BIPOC youth in underserved communities. These needs include access to essential life skills, leadership development, mental health awareness, and a supportive network. Many BIPOC youth face barriers to accessing such resources due to socioeconomic challenges, systemic inequalities, and a lack of representation in leadership roles. This program offers a holistic approach, combining sports, education, and mentorship to equip participants with the tools they need to overcome these challenges and thrive in their personal and professional lives.
