Project Summary

We plan a back-to-school program in late August and early September for the young adults of Black Creek/Humber River. Our Black-led, Black-focused, and Black-serving group will teach high school students study skills and resource navigation, and college students networking, resume building, and internship finding. We aim to connect high schoolers with college students for mentorships, covering costs for bonding events like sports, group outings, and shared meals. We’ll also host activity days to help students relax before school starts. Our goal is to build strong relationships and eliminate financial barriers to participation.

Contributing To An Inclusive Canada

Our project contributes to an inclusive Canada by bringing together youth from diverse backgrounds and providing them with essential skills and support. By focusing on mentorship, we bridge gaps between high school students and college students, creating valuable connections and shared experiences. We offer low-cost opportunities for social and educational activities, ensuring that financial barriers don’t exclude anyone. Our program fosters a supportive environment where young people can learn, grow, and connect, promoting diversity and inclusion in practical ways. This aligns with the grant’s goal of building an inclusive Canada by supporting marginalized and BIPOC communities.
