Project Summary

Muse and Museums are teaming up with Toronto-based Nigerian floral artist Anjeola Salami, aka AnjBlooms, to host a floral arrangement workshop titled “Studio Ododo: A Documentation of West African Floral Artistry”. Participants will dive into West African floral artistry, guided by Anjeola’s expertise. The workshop includes visual and verbal instructions, plus a mood board featuring West African cultural motifs to inspire their creations. Attendees will learn essential techniques for floral arrangements and explore the cultural significance of florals in West African history and traditions.

Addressing Community Needs

This project is dedicated to addressing the diverse needs of Toronto’s community by fostering a more inclusive and varied art scene through culturally rooted art workshops and exhibits. By spotlighting art forms from different cultural backgrounds, such as West African floral artistry, the project aims to enrich the city’s cultural landscape and provide opportunities for marginalized artists to gain visibility. Our goal is to both celebrate Toronto’s multicultural fabric and promote intercultural dialogue and understanding. By connecting community members with diverse artistic practices, the project supports the growth of a more inclusive art environment where all voices are valued and represented. This effort directly responds to the community’s desire for broader representation and deeper cultural engagement within the local art scene.
