Crown & confidence

Hosted By: Sharon A.

Program For Ages: 10 to 29 Years Old

“Crown & Confidence” provides young Black women with free hairstyling treatments while highlighting the significance of self-care and beauty for both physical and emotional health. The project intends to empower and uplift Black women by offering professional hairstyling services by Black women to other Black women, hence building self-worth, confidence, and pride in these young people.

Addressing Community Needs:

The “Crown & Confidence” project concentrates on two main areas to meet the concerns of the Black population in Canada:

1. Mental Health and Self-Esteem: The project gives young Black women free hairstyling services to help them feel confident and appreciated. This can significantly boost their mental well-being, self-esteem, and overall sense of self-worth. Professional hairstyling tailored to their unique hair types by those who understand their specific needs promotes a positive self-image.

2. Cultural Representation and Empowerment: By putting young Black women in touch with Black hairstylists, the program promotes a feeling of cultural pride and belonging. This guarantees them excellent care and styling, and it also builds a community of support in which they may confide and feel understood. Increased self-assurance and cultural pride may result from this empowerment and representation.
