On October 12, 2024, at Petrie Island Beach for a free Konpa dance class from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This event promotes mental health, builds community connections, enhances cultural awareness, and gains insights into Haitian culture and history, which has influenced countries like the United States, Canada, France, Brazil, Cuba, and various nations across the Caribbean. Learn basic and advanced Konpa dance steps from an experienced Haitian instructor, enjoy live music, and gain insights into Haitian culture and history.

Addressing Community Needs:

This project addresses several community needs, including inclusion, cultural awareness, reclaiming one’s roots, cohesion, and mental health. By offering a free Konpa dance class, the event promotes inclusivity and provides an opportunity for community members to come together, fostering social cohesion.
