START Customer Care Program Nov. 2020

We are currently accepting referrals for the November 2020 START Customer Care program which will run online from November 9 – December 23.


START Customer Care Program

The START program is designed to support immigrant women who are interested in working in the customer service sector. This eight-week online program (Mon-Fri, 10 am – 3 pm) provides participants with industry-recognized certifications, computer training, job search support, and coaching. We also provide clients with technology access for the duration of the program if they are not able to access a computer.

  • Self-identify as a woman and as a newcomer or an immigrant (includes citizens, refugee claimants etc.)
  • In receipt of Ontario Works – social assistance program from the Toronto Employment Social Services
  • Be able to legally work in Canada
  • Interested in pursuing a career in the customer service industry – please note this includes all client-facing roles in any industry/sector


Location: As long as clients are working with an OW caseworker within the catchment area of Toronto Employment Social Services (TESS), they are eligible for the program. What this means is sometimes we have people living in Mississauga who have qualified for the program as they were at the Toronto border and work with a TESS caseworker.

Next Steps

Please let clients know to contact their Ontario Works caseworker and let them know they’d like to be referred to the START Customer Care program at ACCES Employment. We will receive the referral directly from the caseworker and will be in touch with the client for an online zoom interview. Alternatively, you can forward them our information if they have further questions.
