JOB TITLE: Caseworker

Amadeusz is a charitable organization operating in Ontario since 2009. Amadeusz supports young people who are incarcerated to create positive change in their lives though access to education, community supports, mentorship, and exceptional care.

Amadeusz’s service, Prosper, uses intensive case management to work with young people aged 18 to 29 with firearm related charges in Ontario. Case workers create and execute an individualized plan of support based on participant needs and goals. Case workers work with young people
throughout incarceration and co-ordinate existing systems and address systemic barriers to support transition through change in custodial status to community with the aim to reduce vulnerability to future violence and crime.

The case worker conducts intake, assessment and creates, implements, monitors and reassess a plan of support for young people ages 18-29 with firearm related charges. The caseworker is also responsible for connecting participants with various community resources to support young people throughout custodial status and post-release.

• Implement a case management approach to support young people in secure facilities
• Conduct intake and assessment, support participants to create, monitor and reassess plans of support
• Recording and documentation
• Provide informal counselling
• Maintain detailed case notes
• Maintain a strengths-based, anti-oppression, gender responsive approach to service provision
• Various administrative duties such as report writing
• Provide information referrals to facilitate achievement of goals upon transfer/release
• Support positive release by connecting with community organizations that serve young people who are criminalized
• Follow project and institutional policies and procedures
• Maintain positive relationships with facility staff and raise awareness of the initiative
• Attend staff meetings and community meetings as required

• 2-3 years case management experience
• Experience working with young people who are incarcerated, knowledge of their barriers
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of the highest level and work within institutional limitations
• Proficient in Microsoft office
• Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

• Bachelor’s Degree completed or in progress in social services/sociology/education or related field supplemented with related work experience

This is a contract position with a 3-month probationary period. The position pays $30.00/hr for 37.5 hours/week to work at The Toronto South Detention Centre, Toronto East Detention Centre, other secure facilities in Ontario and throughout the City of Toronto.
