Call for Community Arts Coordinator

The Community Arts Coordinator will act as the main contact and liaison between artists, facilitators, partners and communities for pop-up programming activations throughout York South Weston. They will also be responsible for community outreach and growing visibility and marketing of these events within the community. The Community Arts Coordinator will report to Shakespeare in Action, and will be responsible for sharing ideas on how to engage the community’s children, youth, and seniors through safe in-person activations.
Tasks will include:
– In partnership with programming organizations, create a summer programming schedule for pop-up activations
– Connect with local BIAs, politicians, businesses, community groups, and local not-for-profits to share marketing materials for pop-up summer schedule
– Oversee and coordinate contracted artists who run pop up sessions
– Manage and coordinate the Artists Supporting Community Initiative delivery program, an SIA initiative that targets local isolated seniors
– Facilitate bookings of building squares/parking lots
– Liase with community members on needs and organize relevant programs
– Assist with recruitment, training, and monitoring of artists
– In partnership with programming orgs and service orgs, create a final report assessing the success of the project
The successful candidate will:
- Be between 15-30 years of age
- Be able to commit to the full term of employment
- Have some experience producing arts and culture events
- Will require travelling to high-rise residences through York South Weston

- Interest in programming for children and youth
- Ability to think on your feet
- A strong communicator and organizer
- First Aid training
- Lives in / has a relationship with the York South Weston community, and has an understanding of the unique needs of children, youth, and seniors living in this area
